Youth holidays on the Cote d’Azur – convenient Villefranche-sur-Mer
The “severe” necessity made us choose the month of June to rest. The semi-annual cartoon ended on June 20. And since I was raving for the third year with the idea of returning to Nice, in March, without further thought, tickets were bought to the capital of the Cote d’Azur – the beauty of Nice. No wonder the Russian aristocrats and the royal family loved her so much.
One of the biggest advantages of relaxing on the Cote d’Azur is the simplicity and accessibility of movement. For one and a half euros you can go to any town or village of the Cote d’Azur. Transport launched very conveniently. And even if you choose the place of residence not Nice itself, but, for example, the town of Villefranche, then you can get to it without problems. It is enough to catch the bus number 100, which goes from the port directly to Monaco and further to Menton. Drive to Villefranche for about twenty minutes. To get to the beach, you need to get off at the Madonne Noir stop. If Villefranche himself is interested, as a historical place or place of residence, then it is better to go to Leopold Avenue.
As for the month of June – as the month of stay on the Cote d’Azur. Not the best option, because it may rain. But on the other hand, there are no waves of tourists, not so hot. For excursions, combined with the beach is better than you can imagine.
Villefranche is the best and most affordable beach in Nice. For our distances, when you go to work for 40 minutes, at least go to Villefranche for a good sandy beach in 20 minutes, there will be no problems. The beach is free, but there is not much space. In season, the whole can be clogged. From the infrastructure on the beach there is a free toilet, a free shower, and there is an automatic paid shower. There is an opportunity to rent a jet ski or rent a yacht. But especially in the bay you will not be dispersed. Still, Villefranche Bay and the yachts there are quite enough.
Villefranche, as a place of deployment, has such a drawback as a very steep descent. If you are going to travel with children or with parents, remember that you will have to go and quite a lot. Although the public transport system is quite developed. But steamed in a minibus to drive three meters would not be desirable. Housing in Villefranche is best rented from private owners. There is an airbnb website for this. Apartment prices have a wide range, closer to the highway you can rent a small studio for 25 euros a day at the end of May, when you can already swim. On the shore, in the houses on the embankment, the apartments will cost around 100 euros a day, and more. Since the town is small and the goal is not only to swim, it is quite possible to rent an apartment closer to the center and the highway.
Hotels were not considered at all, because An apartment for a budget holiday is always more profitable. On the shore a huge number of establishments and prices are very affordable. A meal of the day in Villefranche began from 12-13 euros. That is, in principle, at least once a day you can eat in eateries, especially since the view from all the coastal cafes is very beautiful. The main thing is not to get into the siesta. As a rule, after three, eating will not work. Only drinks! And so hours until 7 pm. So, shops, supermarkets, Sunday, however, all super stores are closed and therefore the path is only to the Arabs.
Villefranche has a very beautiful old town, and the views from the lookout … And you should definitely go to the citadel. The old shelter, where once the ancestors of the French defended themselves against raids. The views of the open sea and the panorama of Villefranche are very picturesque. There is a museum in the citadel, but we really didn’t go there.
I definitely advise everyone to go to Villefranche, especially if it is very stormy in Nice and it’s impossible to swim, but you want to. In Villefranche due to the bay, there are no such problems. The sea is calm and the approach is very convenient without sudden changes, which of course will please the parents of young children.
