Youth and family vacations in Nice
This year, the choice fell on sea vacations and we, with my husband packing our bags, went to the Cote d’Azur. We stayed in the neighboring town of Menton, but spent most of our time with friends in beautiful Nice.
In the entertainment town there are few except banal parks, museums, the old city and the like, there is nothing. Therefore, extreme people here will definitely have a hard time. We, in turn, occupied ourselves with walks along Angliysky Boulevard, narrow streets and along the promenade. Also admired the Flower Market and Place Massena. The old city presented itself as beautiful architecture thoroughly saturated with the Italian spirit (oddly enough) and tiny platforms with terraces of restaurants. They were engaged in eating ice cream and looked into the shops with the fragrant herbs of Provence. They shopped, as a rule, at the affordable Monprix supermarket. Here they bought food and, if necessary, clothes. So, we needed: aquatic hoses, since walking on pebbles without special shoes is difficult; sunblock, which they didn’t take with them, and traces so that sandals would not be rubbed.
To my wildest surprise, prices in Nice are much higher than in Paris. Regular socks will cost you more than 10 euros. And for clothes in general there is no point in writing (from 20 euros per t-shirt). From food, we bought salads and pasta presented in the finished food department. Also sausages and buns, costing approximately 2 euros.
We got to Nice, it was during the marathon race of sailing boats and we were lucky to watch this spectacular sight when hundreds of sails sail at a short distance. It is worth noting that on this day of the race a constant strong wind was blowing. From the north side and a little slowed down the competition. And because of this, the allotted distance in Nice was not quite racing. Maybe it’s bad weather for the participants, but for us, the audience, just right to see, take pictures and enjoy the views longer.
In the evenings they climbed the hill where the fortress used to be, and admired the views of Nice in the setting sun. We visited several times in the port of Nice, now it is one of my favorite places in the resort. The Chagall Museum is remembered for contemporary art. While walking, we accidentally found a Russian church, nothing special, but you can take a look. We prayed and went further to the beach, in the evening the Promenade des Anglais, like the beach as a whole, gradually began to “calm down”. Tourists disperse and on a deserted shore you can sit perfectly with a bottle of wine and listen to the sound of the waves, because the sea here is really hectic.
All other entertainments are already outside of Nice, although it is convenient to get from here and take excursions to other cities within one day. For example, we from Nice traveled by train to Monaco and Monte Carlo, and by evening we were already there.
Each remained with his own opinion of Nice, for me she seemed very comfortable, neat, quiet and with a measured rhythm of life, but her husband and friends got bored with her limitation and dullness. To each his own, as they say, but having visited more than 10 seas, I can say with confidence that the Mediterranean Sea and, in particular, the French Riviera, are worthy of attention. And I would like to come back here again.
